My initial interest in sound arts has stemmed from a love of experimental music. Experimental music draws me in as experimentation in music leads to music evolving and culture shifting. I want to take my time to explore sound in as many ways as possible in order to find my area of expertise, I am currently in the best possible environment to do that which I am very grateful for. A particular sound that started my interest in sound art was the sound of my garden at home during very early morning, I lived very close to a motorway and hearing the distant motorway sounds paired with nature created a stillness that I wanted to learn how to record.
What does sound art mean to me?
Sound is inescapable and the ways we can mould it are infinite, I find sound intimidating in this way as I don’t quite know how to approach it. It is interesting to me how differently people listen to sounds and how people experience sound so uniquely depending on their own personal experiences.
